Sivakarthikeyan’s action thriller Madharaasi continues to dominate the box office, crossing the ₹100 crore mark globally within just two weeks of release. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film also stars Rukmini Vasanth and Vidyut Jammwal in key roles.
Producers confirmed that the film has collected over ₹100 crore in gross earnings after 14 days in theatres, cementing its status as one of the biggest successes of the year. With this achievement, Madharaasi becomes Sivakarthikeyan’s fourth film to enter the coveted ₹100 crore club, following the successes of Doctor (2021), Don (2022), and Amaran (2024).
The story follows Raghu Ram (Sivakarthikeyan), a man grappling with Fregoli delusion after a tragic personal loss. His distorted reality repeatedly pulls him into perilous situations, even as he strives to protect those around him. Adding depth to the narrative, Prem, played by Biju Menon, uses Raghu’s condition to fight against a weapons cartel in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal plays Virat, a formidable adversary who brings tension and high-octane action to the story.
Beyond its commercial performance, Madharaasi has also received notable appreciation from within the industry. Sivakarthikeyan recently shared that superstar Rajinikanth personally reached out to praise the film, calling it “excellent” and applauding both the lead actor’s performance and the action sequences.
The combination of Murugadoss’s direction, a gripping storyline, and Sivakarthikeyan’s strong screen presence appears to have resonated well with audiences, ensuring steady footfall at theatres. Industry trackers suggest that the film shows no signs of slowing down and could continue adding to its impressive box office tally in the coming weeks.
For Sivakarthikeyan, Madharaasi marks yet another milestone in a growing list of blockbuster hits, reaffirming his standing as one of Tamil cinema’s most bankable stars.
