New GNWBA Managing Body takes charge

Noida Extension: The new managing committee of the Greater Noida Bengali Association, headed by president Surojit Ghoshal, assumed charge from August 1 after the successful conclusion of the first ever election in four years.
Gautam Basu is the vice president, Jatin Bagchi is the general secretary, Vishwajeet Bose is the treasurer, Panchali Shyam Dev is the cultural secretary of the new managing committee for one year.
Subhashish Ghose, Poonam Dutta and Aparajita Gupta are joint secretary, joint treasurer and joint cultural secretary of the new committee.
“We hope to work to uphold our rich Bengali culture through a host of activities including organising the annual Durga Puja in Noida Extension area,” said Surojit Ghoshal, the new president.
Ghoshal said the immediate focus of the new committee was to organise the forthcoming grand festival of the Bengali community.
“I humbly seek everybody’s cooperation in organising the Puja and running this organisation,” Ghosal said.
Ratnajyoti Dutta, a renowned journalist of international repute, conducted the election process as the Election Commissioner as per the guidelines of the registered body.
Dutta was ably assisted by Sharmistha Chakroboty, Sagar Sarkar and Supriyo Sengupta for the smooth and fair conduct of the election process.
The maiden election received a single nomination against each of the nine posts in the managing committee.
The valid nominations were declared elected unopposed for the managing committee for one year at a general body meeting on July 31 (Sunday)
