Before The 2022 Announcement, The Nobel Prize Will Honour Rabindranath Tagore

Ahead of the announcement of the 2022 literature prize, which was given to French author Annie Ernaux, the Nobel Prize Twitter account released a tribute and a picture of 1913 winner Rabindranath Tagore.

The first Indian and non-European to get the Nobel Prize in Literature was Rabindranath Tagore.

A line from one of his poems, “The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough,” was quoted in the tweet, which also praised his poetry for being sensitive, fresh, and lovely.

On September 27, the Nobel Prize Instagram account posted a picture along with one of his quotes.

Similar posts with different images have previously been published on its Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Along with being a philosopher and a social reformer, Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) also composed music and painted. He wrote in Bengali and English spanning genres. He had an impact on the freedom movement in India, and Mahatma Gandhi was one of its leaders.

He composed the national anthems of Bangladesh and India.

He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1913 for his profoundly sensitive, fresh, and beautiful verse, by which, with great skill, he has made his own thinking, articulated in his own English words, a part of the literature of the West, according to the citation.

On the Nobel social media accounts, his photo wasn’t the only one posted.

A tribute was also given to American novelist Ernest Hemingway, who won the 1954 Literature Prize, quoting one of his quotes on how all good books are alike.

Toni Morrison, the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize in literature, was another historic winner who received recognition, similar to Rabindranath Tagore (1993).

Since October 3, there have been four Nobel Prize winners announced. Six categories will each have winners announced by the committee. The winners for physics, chemistry, and medicine have already been revealed.

Pratik Sinha and Mohammed Zubair, two Indian fact-checkers who work for AltNews, are reportedly among the contenders for tomorrow’s Nobel Peace Prize.

The final winners will be revealed on October 10 in the category of economics.
