The announcement of the “Inspiring Women in Science” awards was a source of pleasure for India because Maitreyee Wairagkar, a neuroscientist and neuro engineer who are currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Davis, was named a runner-up.
In collaboration with Estée Lauder, the prestigious scientific journal “Nature” bestows the honor. She is the first person from India to accomplish this feat.
The Tem Menina no Circuito initiative and Kizzmekia Corbett, whose research resulted in the Moderna Covid-19 vaccination, were chosen as the winners.
The prizes are divided into two groups: the Scientific Achievement category and the Science Outreach category. In the category of Scientific Achievement, Maitreyee came in second.
According to Maitreyee, she inspires other young ladies and girls to continue their education and scientific study.
You might remember that Maitreyee was the only Indian who made the final cut for the prize.
