Imphal, September 25: Four Tangkhul Naga civilians were killed in a suspected armed attack at Pilong village in Manipur’s Kamjong district, near the Indo-Myanmar border. Police said unidentified armed persons, suspected to have crossed from Myanmar, opened fire on villagers on Thursday. The identities of those responsible are still under investigation, while allegations of involvement by the Myanmar-based Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) have not been independently verified. Following the killings, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) announced a 24-hour emergency shutdown across its jurisdiction from 7 am on September 25 to 7 am on September 26. Essential services, including medical, power and fire services, were exempted.
