Workers From Trinamool And BJP Clash In Bengal, With A Large Police Presence

On December 4, there were fights between Trinamool Congress and BJP members in the Hotuganj neighborhood of West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. On the day of the skirmishes, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was conducting a rally in the same district at Diamond Harbour.

According to reports, motorcycles were set ablaze and a Trinamool office was vandalized.

According to news agency PTI, the incident occurred when a bus carrying BJP supporters to Mr. Adhikari’s rally was allegedly stopped by Trinamool members in the Hatuganj neighborhood, 40 kilometers from Kolkata.

The Rapid Action Force (RAF) and a sizable police force have been stationed in the region to uphold peace, according to officials.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, who was in a car, blocked the national thoroughfare Diamond Harbour Road with other BJP supporters, causing a major traffic gridlock.

As a show of force before the panchayat elections, Mr. Adhikari later spoke at a rally at Diamond Harbour, Abhishek Banerjee’s Lok Sabha district.
