India’s T20I squads for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England have undergone a late change after all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was sidelined due to injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been drafted into both squads as Reddy’s replacement.

Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during India’s recently concluded ODI series against Afghanistan. Medical examinations later confirmed that the youngster would require rehabilitation and recovery time, making him unavailable for the forthcoming T20 assignments. The setback comes at a crucial stage for the all-rounder, who had been building his reputation as a valuable middle-order batter and pace-bowling option for the national team.

The selection committee has placed its faith in Suryansh Shedge, who has impressed consistently in domestic cricket and for India A. The 23-year-old played a key role in the recent India A tri-series campaign in Sri Lanka, where he contributed important runs and displayed his all-round abilities. His performances caught the attention of selectors, leading to his first call-up to the senior Indian side.

India will begin its international commitments with a two-match T20I series against Ireland in Belfast before travelling to England for a five-match T20I series next month. The contests are expected to provide an opportunity for the team management to test emerging talent and build depth ahead of future global tournaments.

Shedge’s inclusion represents a significant milestone in his career and offers him the chance to showcase his abilities at the highest level. Cricket experts believe the all-rounder could play an important role if given opportunities during the two series, making this call-up a potentially career-defining moment for the Mumbai cricketer.
