Manish Tewari Posts Cryptic Message After Being Dropped From Operation Sindoor Debate

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / July 29, 2025

Senior Congress MP Manish Tewari has triggered speculation over internal discord within the party after he was excluded from the list of speakers in the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor. Despite his prominent role in the all-party delegation that toured several countries following the Pahalgam terror attack, Tewari was not selected to speak during the high-profile parliamentary discussion.

Shortly after reports of his omission surfaced, Tewari took to social media to post a cryptic message, quoting patriotic lyrics from a popular Manoj Kumar song:
“Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada, main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon. Bharat ka rehne waala hoon, Bharat ki baat sunata hoon.”
This post, accompanied by a screenshot of a news report about his exclusion, was widely interpreted as a subtle rebuke aimed at the Congress leadership.

When asked about the post, Tewari responded, “If you don’t understand my silences, you will never understand my words,” further fuelling speculation about his dissatisfaction with the party’s internal decision-making process.

Sources indicate that Tewari had submitted a formal request to participate in the debate through the office of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. However, his name was missing from the final list of speakers. Other MPs who were also part of the international outreach—such as Shashi Tharoor and Amar Singh—were similarly excluded. Tharoor, though reportedly invited, declined to speak, citing a contradiction between his earlier support for the government’s diplomatic stance and the current need for parliamentary critique.

The Congress’s decision to keep senior and internationally respected voices like Tewari and Tharoor out of the debate has drawn criticism. Observers believe it may have weakened the party’s strategic messaging, especially on matters of national security and foreign policy.

With Operation Sindoor dominating parliamentary proceedings, Tewari’s veiled discontent has highlighted deeper fractures within the Congress ranks, raising questions about how the party manages internal voices and allocates responsibilities during critical national debates. The leadership has not yet offered any public explanation for the exclusion.
