West Midnapore Administration Addresses A Press Briefing For Post-Poll Violence; 162 Arrested in Major Crackdown

West Midnapore : A press briefing was held on Wednesday at the conference hall of the Midnapore District Magistrate’s office to address the post-election violence that occurred in the West Midnapore district. District Magistrate Vijan Krishna IAS, Superintendent of Police Papia Sultana IPS, and Deputy Force Commander (CAPF) Shailu Maharana, along with other senior officials, participated in the conference.
The officials provided a detailed overview of the recent Vidhan Sabha elections conducted in the district, emphasizing that the polling process was largely peaceful. However, following the announcement of results, clashes broke out in certain areas, resulting in disruptions such as occupation of party offices and various anti-social activities.

162 individuals have been arrested for their involvement in violent and unlawful acts. The police and paramilitary forces are continuing their operations to prevent any further disturbances.
Deputy Force Commander Shailu Maharana assured that the Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed effectively to support local law enforcement and maintain peace across the district.
The administration urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities during this critical time. They reinforced their commitment to uphold democratic values and ensure a safe environment for all.
