Arun Yogiraj, The Artist Who Created The Netaji Statue, Challenges Rivals For Credit In A Public Competition
The granite statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate has been there for two months.
The big statue is one of India’s tallest, most lifelike, monolithic, handmade sculptures, standing a total of 28 feet tall and weighing 280 MT.
Arun Yogiraj, who has his home in Mysuru, is credited with creating the monument.
However, in an interview published on November 11 by a reputable newspaper, artist Naresh Kumawat claimed credit for creating the sculpture.
Speaking to Swarajya in response, Yogiraj disputed the assertion’s author.
Yogiraj, however, claims he would like to take Kumawat’s fictitious claim to credit in good fun and dare him to demonstrate his talent.
Yogiraj also made a suggestion that this is not the first time that rivals in the hia have succumbed to envy. He’s not there to compete, though.
According to the press release given on the occasion of its unveiling on Kartavyapath, the granite monolith was chiseled to create a statue weighing 65 MT after 26,000 man-hours of intense artistic endeavor. The statue was entirely hand sculpted utilizing both conventional methods and contemporary tools. Shri. Arun Yogiraj served as the team leader for the sculptors who created the statue. This massive granite stone was transported 1665 kilometers from Khammam in Telangana to New Delhi on a truck that was 100 feet long and had 140 wheels
