Russia, Ukraine and US to Hold Trilateral Peace Talks in Abu Dhabi Next Week, Kremlin Confirms

News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 4th November 2026

The Kremlin has confirmed that Russia, Ukraine and the United States will participate in a fresh round of trilateral peace negotiations in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11, as diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war gather momentum. The proposed meeting represents another attempt by Washington to bring the two sides together and explore possibilities for a negotiated settlement to the conflict.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Tuesday that Moscow would send a delegation to the discussions. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be represented by his aide Vladimir Medinsky, who will lead the country’s negotiating team. The announcement comes amid continuing disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv over the conditions required to secure a lasting peace agreement.

The United States is also expected to play a central role in the negotiations. US special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to participate in the diplomatic initiative. Washington has been attempting to revive negotiations and establish a framework that could eventually lead to an end to the hostilities.

The discussions are expected to cover several major issues, including ending military operations, security arrangements, military de-escalation and humanitarian concerns. However, the territorial disputes and competing security demands of Russia and Ukraine remain significant obstacles to reaching an agreement.

The upcoming Abu Dhabi peace talks follow earlier diplomatic engagements mediated by Washington. The previous round of US-mediated discussions took place in February, before the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran. The geopolitical developments since then have complicated the international diplomatic environment and affected efforts to resolve the conflict in eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, American representatives are also expected to hold discussions with officials from several European countries and international organisations in Brussels. Representatives from France, Germany and Britain, along with the European Union and NATO, are expected to participate in discussions concerning Ukraine’s future security arrangements and reconstruction requirements. European involvement remains important because any potential settlement could have wider implications for the continent’s security framework.

Despite the renewed diplomatic initiative, considerable differences remain between Moscow and Kyiv over territorial control, security guarantees and the political conditions of a settlement. Both sides have maintained positions that could complicate negotiations, making the upcoming discussions particularly significant. The Russia-Ukraine war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, has caused widespread destruction, displacement and a prolonged international security crisis. Efforts by several countries to negotiate an end to the conflict have so far failed to produce a comprehensive peace agreement.
