A court in Ayodhya has remanded all eight accused in the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case to 14 days of judicial custody, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of devotees’ contributions. The order came after the completion of the accused persons’ police custody, during which investigators questioned them and gathered evidence related to the alleged financial irregularities.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is leading the probe, produced the accused before the court on Monday and sought judicial custody to continue its investigation. According to officials, the case involves the alleged siphoning of cash and valuables donated by devotees at the Ram Temple through a well-organised conspiracy. Investigators claim that funds meant for the temple were illegally diverted over a period of time.

During the investigation, the SIT reportedly recovered nearly ₹80 lakh and seized documents and digital evidence believed to be connected to the alleged embezzlement. Search operations were also carried out at the residences and other properties linked to the accused. Officials are examining financial records, bank transactions and movable and immovable assets to determine the extent of the alleged fraud and identify the beneficiaries.

The investigation has now widened beyond the eight arrested individuals. Authorities are scrutinising the role of bank officials and others involved in the collection, handling and deposit of temple donations to ascertain whether additional people were part of the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are also examining the assets of key accused Anukalp Mishra, whose reportedly disproportionate wealth, including a farmhouse, a residential property and an SUV, has come under the scanner.

In a parallel development, the Faizabad Bar Association has resolved that none of its members will represent the eight accused in court, citing the religious significance of the Ram Temple and the trust reposed by millions of devotees. The association also warned that any member violating the resolution could face disciplinary action.

The SIT has indicated that the investigation remains underway and further arrests cannot be ruled out if additional evidence emerges. Officials said the probe is focused on ensuring accountability and uncovering the full extent of the alleged misappropriation of temple donations. The case has attracted widespread public attention, with devotees and local residents closely monitoring the progress of the investigation.
