Huma Qureshi Speaks About Body-Shaming, Says Online Criticism Affected Her Early Career

Actor Huma Qureshi has opened up about facing body-shaming and harsh online criticism during the early years of her career, revealing that the negativity significantly affected her confidence and emotional well-being.
During an appearance on the chat show Double Date, hosted by Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, Huma spoke candidly about the pressure she experienced after entering the film industry. The actress, who appeared on the show alongside her brother Saqib Saleem, said constant comments about her appearance and body image made her increasingly withdrawn during the initial phase of her Bollywood journey.
Huma shared that after the release of her early films, she frequently encountered critical remarks on social media. According to the actress, the repeated scrutiny impacted her self-esteem and made her feel insecure about herself. She admitted that public judgement and unrealistic beauty standards in the entertainment industry created emotional stress at a time when she was still trying to establish herself professionally.
The actress further explained that over time she learned how to cope with the negativity and focus on personal growth. Huma said practices such as meditation, therapy and journaling helped her regain confidence and develop a healthier mindset. She added that she now feels more secure and comfortable in her own identity and is better equipped to deal with criticism.
Huma has often spoken against body-shaming and unrealistic beauty expectations in the entertainment industry. Her film Double XL also explored similar themes surrounding body image and societal standards. On the professional front, the actress has recently received appreciation for her work in Delhi Crime 3 and is expected to feature in several upcoming projects in the coming months.
