Mammootty Wins Best Actor, Manjummel Boys Bags Top Honours at Kerala State Film Awards 2025

The 55th Kerala State Film Awards, celebrating the finest achievements in Malayalam cinema, were announced in Thrissur on Monday. Veteran actor Mammootty emerged as the Best Actor for his outstanding performance, reaffirming his continued dominance in the industry, while Manjummel Boys won the prestigious Best Film award, marking a major victory for the film’s cast and crew.

This year’s competition was intense, with 128 films submitted for consideration and 26 shortlisted for the final round. The jury, chaired by acclaimed actor and filmmaker Prakash Raj, evaluated films across multiple categories, acknowledging both seasoned professionals and promising newcomers in Malayalam cinema.

Newcomer Shamla Hamza received the Best Actress award, earning widespread praise for her powerful performance that captured the jury’s attention. The recognition marks a strong debut for the young actor in the Malayalam film industry.

Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, has been widely acclaimed for its gripping storytelling, technical brilliance, and emotional depth, making it one of the most successful Malayalam films of the year. Mammootty’s performance, meanwhile, was lauded for its nuanced portrayal and depth, once again proving his ability to redefine cinematic excellence with every role.
