Jhargram Palace Administrator Honored at Kolkata Heritage Conference

Jhargram, West Bengal : Junglemahal rich historical legacy and the royal heritage acknowledged since Vikramaditya Malladeb , Operator Administrator of Jhargram Palace, participated as a distinguished panelist at the prestigious heritage conference titled Kolkata’s Living Legacy: Fitting the Past into the Future” held at Williamson Magor Hall. Organized by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event brought together urban planners, architects, conservation experts, academicians, tourism professionals, and artists to discuss heritage conservation and sustainable cultural development.
The conference’s session on “Crafts, Communities, Commerce & Community-led Heritage Revival” emphasized preserving traditional crafts and encouraging local community participation in heritage projects. Renowned filmmaker and Sheriff of Kolkata, Gautam Ghose, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
During his address, Malladeb shed light on the historical significance of the Jhargram royal family and the role of Jhargram Palace as a cultural hub linking history, tourism, and local traditions. His perspective on community-based heritage preservation was highly appreciated by attendees.
Following the event, the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued a formal letter of appreciation recognizing Malladeb’s valuable contributions. The organization also recommended establishing a dedicated Ministry for Art, Culture, and Conservation in West Bengal to enhance efforts in heritage preservation, promote traditional arts, and boost cultural tourism.
The recognition has been warmly received in Jhargram and the Junglemahal region, with local communities hopeful that this acknowledgment will strengthen their cultural identity and increase tourism opportunities at the national level.
