Karisma Kapoor’s Children Get Interim Relief in Sunjay Kapur Estate Dispute

In a key development in the ongoing property dispute involving the estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to the children of actor Karisma Kapoor, ensuring protection of their claimed interests.
The court has directed that status quo be maintained over Kapur’s assets, effectively restraining any transfer, sale, or creation of third-party rights related to the estate. This order is seen as a safeguard to preserve the properties until the legal dispute is fully resolved.
The case revolves around a disagreement over the division of Kapur’s substantial estate, with his children—Samaira and Kiaan—challenging the validity of a will presented by his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur. The petitioners have raised concerns about the authenticity of the document, citing what they describe as “suspicious circumstances” surrounding its execution.
During earlier proceedings, the court had permitted a forensic examination of the will, underlining the seriousness of the allegations and the need for a thorough investigation. The dispute has since intensified, drawing attention due to both the high-profile individuals involved and the significant value of the assets in question.
Legal experts note that maintaining status quo is a common judicial measure in such high-value inheritance cases, as it prevents irreversible changes to property ownership while the matter is under consideration. The court has also indicated that the concerns raised by the children will be examined in detail during the course of the trial. The outcome of the case will largely depend on whether the doubts surrounding the will can be resolved and its legitimacy established in court. Until then, the estate will remain protected under judicial oversight.
