Tanvi Sharma Advances to Final of BWF World Junior Championships

India’s top-seeded badminton player, Tanvi Sharma, delivered a commanding performance to secure her place in the final of the BWF World Junior Championships. The 16-year-old from Delhi triumphed over China’s Liu Si Ya with a straight-game victory of 15–11, 15–9, in a match lasting just over half an hour.
With this win, Sharma becomes only the third Indian female player to reach the final of the prestigious tournament, following in the footsteps of Saina Nehwal and Aparna Popat. She had previously assured herself of a medal by advancing to the semifinals, a feat not achieved by an Indian woman in 17 years.
Sharma’s journey to the final included a resilient comeback in the quarterfinals against Japan’s Saki Matsumoto. After dropping the first game 13–15, she bounced back to win the next two games 15–9, 15–10, showcasing her mental toughness and skill.
In the final, Sharma will face the winner of the match between top-seeded players, aiming to add a world junior title to her growing list of achievements. Her performance has garnered widespread praise and has set high expectations for Indian badminton on the global stage.
