India and France have adopted the ambitious Innovation Roadmap 2030, setting the stage for deeper collaboration in artificial intelligence, education, scientific research and emerging technologies. The initiative reflects the two nations’ commitment to strengthening their long-standing strategic partnership by focusing on innovation-driven growth and technological advancement.
The roadmap, unveiled during high-level bilateral engagements, aligns with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and France’s France 2030 development strategy. It outlines a comprehensive framework to enhance cooperation in critical sectors that are expected to shape the global economy in the coming decades.
One of the key features of the agreement is the establishment of a Trusted Artificial Intelligence Partnership. Under this initiative, India and France will work together to develop secure, ethical and reliable AI systems while promoting responsible governance of emerging technologies. The two countries also intend to collaborate on issues such as online safety, data protection and the use of technology for public welfare.
The roadmap further emphasises expanding educational exchanges and academic partnerships. France has reiterated its goal of welcoming 30,000 Indian students by 2030, while both countries aim to simplify the recognition of educational qualifications and encourage greater mobility among students and researchers.
In a move to foster innovation ecosystems, India and France will strengthen ties between industries, academic institutions and research organisations. Existing collaborative platforms are expected to receive renewed support, while new initiatives aimed at promoting joint research, entrepreneurship and technology transfer are also being explored.
The two countries additionally pledged to work together on developing innovative solutions for healthcare challenges and enhancing cooperation in science-based sectors. Observers view the roadmap as a significant step in expanding the India-France relationship beyond traditional areas such as defence and diplomacy into the domains of innovation, education and future technologies.
