PM Modi Takes Boat Ride On Hooghly River in Kolkata, Says Ganga Flows Through Bengal’s Soul

Kolkata West Bengal : Amid the ongoing election campaign in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Friday early this morning on the banks of the Hooghly River in Kolkata, where he took a boat ride and shared a heartfelt message on the spiritual and cultural significance of the Ganga for the people of Bengal.
The Prime Minister posted several pictures of his visit on social media, showing him seated on a wooden boat with a camera in hand, while the iconic Vidyasagar Setu could be seen in the background. The visuals captured peaceful moments from his morning cruise and his time at the riverfront.

In a message posted in Bengali on his X handle, Prime Minister Modi said that the Ganga holds a special place in the hearts of Bengalis and described the river as flowing through the very soul of Bengal. He wrote that during his morning in Kolkata, he spent time on the banks of the Hooghly and got the opportunity to offer his gratitude to Maa Ganga. He also said that the sacred waters of the Ganga carry the eternal spirit of India’s civilization.
The Prime Minister further linked the visit to his political and developmental message for the state. Standing on the banks of the Hooghly, he said, the pledge must be renewed to work for the development of West Bengal and the prosperity of the Bengali community.
Prime Minister Modi had arrived in Bengal on Thursday to campaign for the second phase of the elections. During his visit, he addressed a public rally in Krishnanagar and later visited Belur Math, where he offered prayers.
His visit to the Hooghly riverfront, combining spiritual symbolism with an electoral message, is being seen as a significant moment in his Bengal outreach during the campaign season.
