Conversations About History, Horses, High Fashion, And Cuisine At The Meeting Place Of Royalty And Luxury
The speakers at the L’Aspiration Summit 2022 in Chandigarh on October 10 discussed Exploring Aspirations and Interpreting Luxury while reflecting on India’s royal history and its current significance.
While several speakers at the summit, a News18 program, characterized luxury as being made attainable, some expressed the view that the combination of royalty and democracy was now becoming more acceptable.
The summit’s speakers covered a wide range of topics, from democratizing royal cuisine to using sustainable fashion to explore royalty. The Faridkot royal family’s Amarinder Singh Brar acknowledged that it was difficult to pursue the case because the family had lost political clout in Punjab during his speech on the drawn-out judicial struggle that he eventually prevailed.
A banker by trade, Brar claimed that despite the property’s valuation in the thousands of crores, it was his forefathers’ legacy—rather than the family’s opulent lawns and palaces—that gave him a sense of pride.
Tegbir Singh Brar discussed the likelihood of a Derby in Punjab. He asserted that, as a stud farmer, he can not only create jobs for the upkeep of the horses but also, like in other nations where it is recognized as a serious sport, that potential ought to be investigated in India as well, outside of clubs and racing betting.
Priyamvada Singh of Meja in Rajasthan, a former royal who now competes in Kaun Banega Crorepati, acknowledges that it was a hardship to uphold the status of royalty and that she preferred that she could restore the lost and wonderful heritage and connect the current with the past. She described her work as the glory restorer as an endeavor to investigate the restoration of the Meja fort, which had once belonged to her ancestors.
