Adani Defence and Aerospace Delivers ‘Prahar’ LMGs to Indian Army in Indigenous Boost
16th April 2026

Adani Defence and Aerospace has delivered the first batch of 2,000 ‘Prahar’ light machine guns (LMGs) to the Indian Army, marking a major milestone in India’s push for indigenous defence manufacturing.
The delivery underscores progress in strengthening domestic capabilities in small-arms production, reducing reliance on imports, and enhancing operational readiness. The ‘Prahar’ LMGs are expected to improve the Army’s firepower and efficiency in combat situations.
Officials view the development as a significant step under India’s broader self-reliance initiative in defence. It also highlights growing private sector participation in military manufacturing, contributing to modernization and long-term strategic autonomy in defence procurement.
