Ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 scheduled for tomorrow, authorities have deployed a total of 2,343 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) across the state to ensure free, fair, and peaceful voting.

According to official sources, the highest deployment has been made in Kolkata with 274 CAPF companies, reflecting the strategic importance and sensitivity of urban constituencies. This is followed by Purba Bardhaman with 263 companies and Hooghly with 236 companies.

The extensive security arrangement comes amid heightened political activity and a closely contested electoral environment in the state. The deployment aims to prevent any untoward incidents, maintain law and order, and boost voter confidence during polling.

The Election Commission of India has been closely monitoring the preparations and has emphasized strict adherence to guidelines to ensure neutrality and transparency in the electoral process.

With multi-layered security, route marches, and area domination exercises already underway, officials remain confident of conducting smooth polling across all constituencies in this phase.
