“Why Be In Spotlight? TCS Official Addresses Employee Regarding Sexual Abuse Case: “Drop It”

News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/22nd April 2026

Let it go: A senior manager at the massive IT company Tata Consultancy Services, or TCS, gave advice to a female employee at its Nashik division who had accused a senior coworker of sexual harassment at work.

The survivor had joined the Nashik unit three years prior as a contractual employee. She vocally complained to the Quality and Training Manager about Raza Memon, the Loans Branch Team Lead, alleging that he tried to approach her when he saw her alone herself in the training room.

She said that Raza started constantly pursuing her and put pressure on her to keep the situation a secret. She even said he frequently touched her improperly. The Team Leader dismissed the issue as well, telling her to hang out with other people.

In an attempt to exact revenge after discovering that a complaint had been made, Raza Menon falsely accused the survivor of having an affair by spreading rumors in the workplace that connected her identity to a male coworker. Additionally, he made crude comments about the complainant’s marital and personal life.

“Why do you need to be in the spotlight? Just let it go – drop it,” Ashwini Chainani, the HR head and operations manager of the company, advised her when the survivor approached him with her complaint.

Chainani is one among the eight people arrested in the case so far. The corporation, which is the largest employer in the private sector in India, asserts that it has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and has not received any complaints about the issue through internal channels. When the woman stopped talking to Raza, he and his coworkers Danish and Tausif interfered with the office system, making her problems worse.

In an attempt to overburden the complainant with the workload and induce a mental collapse, the frequency of calls—which were intended to arrive every 30 seconds—was upped to once every second.

The “false” charges of sexual harassment and conversion against TCS employee Raza Memon are the result of office politics and internal professional competition, according to his family, who described him as a “high performer” on Sunday.

Nine allegations pertaining to alleged efforts at sexual and mental harassment of female employees at the TCS facility are being investigated by a SIT of Nashik Police.
