NEW DELHI – In a high-profile gathering reflecting deep camaraderie and national pride, the book ‘Apnapan: Narendra Modi Sang Mere Anubhav’ (Kinship: My Experiences with Narendra Modi), authored by Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was officially unveiled today in New Delhi.

The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including former Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister Shri H.D. Deve Gowda, and the author himself, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Attended by a distinguished audience of Chief Ministers, Union and State Ministers, MPs, MLAs, grass-roots workers, and socio-economic beneficiaries like the ‘Lakhpati Didis’, the launch transformed into a heartfelt celebration of Prime Minister Modi’s text-book public service, empathy, and vision for India.

Key Highlights from the Unveiling:

  • A 35-Year Living Document: Written by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the book chronicles his over three-decade-long journey working alongside PM Narendra Modi, offering a rare, personal glimpse into the Prime Minister’s transition from a dedicated organizational worker to the leader of the world’s largest democracy.
  • The Definition of ‘MODI’: Former Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu captivated the audience by reiterating his acronym for the Prime Minister, stating that “MODI stands for ‘Making of Developed India’.” He emphasized how the Prime Minister’s direct communication channels, like ‘Mann Ki Baat’, have redefined public trust and transformed communication into a tool for national unity.
  • Global Projection of Indian Values: Shri Naidu highlighted how India’s cultural confidence has achieved global acceptance under PM Modi, pointing out how the simple, respectful Indian greeting of “Namaste” has been embraced by world leaders, symbolizing the expansion of India’s self-esteem on the world stage.
  • Recognizing the Unrecognized: The dignitaries lauded the Prime Minister’s democratization of national honors like the Padma Awards, shifting the focus away from elite circles to recognize grassroots champions, including farmers and silent social workers.
  • Rural and Farmer Empathy: Former Prime Minister Shri H.D. Deve Gowda praised the book for capturing the essence of rural India. He remarked that true leadership must speak the language of the fields and villages, noting that ‘Apnapan’ reflects a profound narrative of development that keeps human sensitivity at its core.

Author’s Insight:

Reflecting on his motivation for writing the book, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated:

“Over the past 35 years, I have seen Shri Narendra Modi live every single breath for the nation. His credibility rests not just on monumental achievements, but on the absolute transparency of his intentions, the simplicity of his conduct, and the unyielding continuity of his actions. Even at the absolute pinnacle of power, he remains directly attuned to the heartbeats of the common citizen.”

Shri Venkaiah Naidu also paid rich tributes to Shri Chouhan’s own legacy, highlighting his 17-year successful tenure as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and his current role as Union Agriculture Minister. Naidu noted that Chouhan’s transition from a youth worker to a beloved mass leader, widely addressed as “Mama” (Maternal Uncle) by his people, stands as a model of clean, accessible, and empathetic politics that the younger generation must study.

Published by Prabhat Prakashan, ‘Apnapan’ is being hailed across political and literary circles not merely as a collection of personal memoirs, but as an essential historical text on mission-driven public life, organizational discipline, and the profound human relationships that underpin modern Indian governance.
