PRESS RELEASE :“War Beyond Borders” Talk Show Highlights How Global Conflicts Are Shaping Everyday Life

Kolkata, May 3, 2026 — The Lions of Calcutta North hosted at The Tollygunge Club a thought-provoking talk show titled “Global Conflicts – Shaping Your Lives?” to explore how international crises impact daily existence. Anchored in the theme “War Beyond Borders,” the session demonstrated that modern conflicts are no longer distant geopolitical issues but forces influencing economies, governance, and personal choices. The event transformed complex global tensions into relatable, real-world impacts, making it clear that international events are closer to home than ever imagined.
The discussion featured a powerful panel of experts including Debashis Sen, IAS (Retd.), Former Chairman, HIDCO; Reshmi Ghosh, Former Femina Miss India; Rear Admiral Subir Mukherjee, Retired Indian Navy Officer; Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School; Dr. K. Rangarajan, Professor & Head of IIFT, Kolkata; and TEDx Speaker Lokesh Nathany. Expertly moderated by Club’s Joint Secretary Tapan Kumar Gadodia, the panel engaged in a lively discussion covering defence, governance, education, and media narratives. The evening also included an interactive Q&A session that reinforced how global shifts continue to shape everyday realities and honouring the past presidents of the Club including a special audio-visual presentation of their legacy.
Club President Lion Anil Saraogi emphasized that the initiative aimed to empower citizens to move from being mere spectators to informed, resilient members of a global community. Moderator Lion Tapan Kumar Gadodia added that such conversations help people understand global influences and inspire more thoughtful engagement. The successful event was organized through the active involvement of PDG Lion Subhash Murarka, Lion Ratan Dugar, Secretary Lion Niranjan Jain, Treasurer Lion Babulal Bothra, and IPP Lion O P Bangur.
Founded in 1961, the Lions Club of Calcutta North is a premier club under District 322B1 with over 160 members. Currently led by President Lion Anil Saraogi, the club serves thousands of beneficiaries every month through the Lions North Calcutta Hospital & Medical Centre, a Vocational Training Centre, and the 9.5-acre Lions Safari Park. From the “Sight First” vision care initiative to “Roti on Wheel” project feeding the hunger, the club remains dedicated to community service, empowerment and sustainable social impact.
