The schedule for the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral records in 16 states and three Union Territories has been released by the Election Commission of India (ECI). According to the poll body, the Phase-III schedule was created in accordance with the common field equipment used in the Census exercise’s ongoing house listing work.
The SIR exercise will now encompass nearly the whole nation, with the exception of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh, according to the most recent release. According to the Election Commission, the schedule for these three States and Union Territories will be released later, taking into account the weather in snow-bound areas and the upper reaches of hilly regions, as well as the completion of Phase-II of the Census.
